"World of Warcraft TCG: Through the Dark Portal" Hits Stores
The friendly Winter armistice is bursting at the seams with the burden of cabin fever and internalized anxiety. Soon the blood feuds will begin anew. Your best friends will become your worst enemies. New vendettas will form, erupting with the pounding fury of angry fists on oak. Drinks will tumble. Words will be said, faces slapped. Cards will fly. The stage is set for a series of brutal summer evenings.
Or maybe you don't take this stuff as seriously as we do.
Either way - the Wow TCG is back, and The World of Warcraft TCG: Through the Dark Portal [Starter, Booster] has shipped to stores! In it you'll find 319 new cards, including new abilities, races, quests, allies, weapons and equipment for your Hero, all pulled from the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Expansion.
The set is large enough that it can be played on it's own, so new players can jump right in without skipping a beat. Veterans can mix things up by folding the Through the Dark Portal cards into their the original Heroes of Azeroth decks, thus creating a new series of interesting gameplay combinations to discover.
Players skeptical of change can checkout the WoW TCG Database Dark Portal Page to see a listing of all of the set's cards from Anchorite Kalinna to Zalazane.
Players new to the game should pick up a Through the Dark Portal Starter Deck [Amazon,Funagain] which has everything they need to start playing, including: a 33-Card Deck, 2 Boosters, 3 Hero cards, and an Instruction Booklet.
Veteran Players can pick up Booster Packs [Amazon, Funagain] to expand their collection. Each comes with 15 cards along the standard distribution of Rare, Uncommon and Common Cards, with a few Epics in scattered packs for good measure.
Here's the official information:
A storm rages in the Blasted Lands as evil stirs within the Dark Portal! Heroes will be made. Legends will be written. Heed the Call! Play as your favorite class and race, including the new Draenei and Blood Elf races, uncover uniquely-coded rare Loot Cards featuring cosmetic upgrades for your World of Warcraft online character, and collect UDE Points cards with unique codes to earn special TCG cards and promotional materials."
Call us egotistical, but we've found our inviting words to be far more inspiring. Heed The Call? More like avoid the call of the siren song. These cards vibrate off the table, thumping our temples with the drum of addiction and obsession. Thankfully the original set was so fun to play that it validates all time we plan to spend pushing rectangular pieces of paper around the table like kids with their first Topps baseball cards.
We'll be sure to lift our heads out of the WoW TCG madness to let you know our thoughts on the expansion, but first we leave us alone - we gotta play the crap out of it.
Until then checkout our other WoW TCG Through the Dark Portal Coverage:
Catch ya latah, and have a good weekend with the new set!
